Government fails at virtually everything it does. As a Nevadan, I often tell the story of the federal government taking over a legal brothel in Nevada- a $100,000,000 business- and managing it into bankruptcy in a year. Just days ago, the State of New York announced that OTB- government run gambling parlors- was filing for bankruptcy. Amazing. The two businesses where no one on earth has ever lost money- sex and gambling- and government runs them both into bankruptcy.
Is it any wonder that our public education system is a disaster? That after spending tens of billions, SAT scores are going down? That the performance gap between white/Asian and minority students is widening? That minority student drop-out rates in major cities approaches or exceeds 50%? That the more we spend on public education, the worse the results? That a recent study proves that home-schooled students are almost twice as smart aspublic school students (scoring 89 versus 50 on a scale of 1 to 100)? Yet in the face of these shocking and depressing facts, President Obama and the Democratic Congress chose to kill a charter school program that was working for minority students in Washington D.C.
It has just been announced that President Obama will address public school students across the USA on Tuesday. I’ll bet the topics I just described above won’t be on the agenda. Instead what we’ll see is an attempt to brainwash young minds into hero worship of Barack Obama and his big government agenda.
But I have a great idea. We can turn lemons into lemonade. Instead of asking students how they can help President Obama (thereby becoming his deputies, allies, and fans), how about we use this opportunity to ask some serious questions that need to be answered by the President. Here is the Q&A with President Obama (and the homework assignment) that I’d suggest for America’s public school students:
Q: President Obama, why did you allow the Democratic Congress to kill school choice in Washington DC, even though studies proved that charter schools were dramatically improving the education results of minority students?
Q: President Obama, do you care about teachers unions (your campaign contributors) more than the educational and economic future of minority students?
Q: President Obama, why do your daughters Sasha and Malia deserve school choice (a private school education costing $40,000 a year each), when other minority students in Washington D.C. don’t get a choice?
Q: Mr. President, if public school education is so fantastic that you don’t believe choice or competition is necessary, why don’t you send your precious daughters to Washington D.C. public schools?
Q: Mr. President, if other parents don’t have the money for private school, like you and Michelle do, should their children be condemned to a lifetime of inferior education?
Q: Mr. President, did you see the latest SAT test scores which show that after a 25 year effort to improve scores, we have failed miserably? We’ve spent tens of billions per year, yet SAT scores went down again. What do you think this means? Why would taxpayers be forced to spend more on the same failing public education system? Shouldn’t competition be encouraged to improve the system?
Q: Mr. President, those same just-released SAT test scores showed that despite spending tens of billions of dollars to help minority students improve test scores, the SAT performance gap between minority students and white/Asian students just widened again. So do you think public school education is a failure? Knowing this, why would you and the Democratic Congress choose to kill charter school programs in Washington DC that are helping minority students? Doesn’t this appear racist?
Q: Mr. President, is it true that Chicago cooked the books? Studies show that Chicago’s public schools are terrible, among the worst in America, and prior studies showing improvement were greatly exaggerated. So why is your friend Arnie Duncan, who ran the Chicago School System, now running America’s school system?
Q: Mr. President, recent studies proved that home-school educated children are almost TWICE as smart as public school educated children. Why do you think that is Mr. President? With results like this, shouldn’t home-schooling be encouraged by our educators, instead of denigrated and discouraged?
Q: Mr. President, we spend more money on public school children than any country in the world, yet get among the worst results. Why do you think that is? Could it be because teachers unions are doing the same damage to public education that auto unions did to the U.S. auto industry?
Q: Mr. President, how come California pays the highest teacher salaries in America, but their test results are 49th out of 50 states? Is it therefore possible that spending more on education, and paying teachers more, does not add up to better results? If so, why did you just spend another $125 billion of the stimulus package on public education? If $60 billion per year spent by the Department of Education has produced failing results, why would you spend another $125 billion?
Q: Mr. President, how come private and parochial school teachers are paid far less than public school teachers, without gigantic pensions and free healthcare for life (paid on the taxpayers’ dime), but produce far better results?
Q: Mr. President, how come the rankings of America’s students have gone consistently and dramatically down since the day government took over education?
Q: Mr. President, how come we don’t fire poorly performing teachers? Why should a teacher doing a poor job be guaranteed a job and pension for life?
Q: Mr. President, in the private sector, employees are losing jobs by the millions. Almost everyone else in the private sector is seeing major cuts in hours and pay. Virtually no employees in the private sector are seeing any increase in pay. So why should government employees union members- like teachers- be protected from firings and receive large pay increases? Are they a privileged class?
Q: Mr. President, is it true that public school districts around the country claim to be severely underfunded, yet they are spending millions of dollars on public relations and advertising campaigns to increase enrollment (because parents are leaving failing public schools in droves)?
Q: How come you’re so concerned with rising health care costs in the private sector, but rising government-run education costs don’t seem to bother you? And how can government-run healthcare save money for taxpayers, when government-run education keeps rising and at the same time produces inferior results?
Those are just a few of the questions I’d have our publicschool students ask President Obama. I think the President of the United States addressing our youth is a good idea. But only if he’ll choose to honestly allow and answer the serious questions above. Only if the questions and questioners aren’t “pre-screened.” Only if he’s willing to admit that our national education crisis is just as important as our national healthcare crisis.
Only if President Obama is willing to question the role of teachers unions in the destruction of public education. Only if he is willing to explain what appears to be either indifference, or racism on his part towards the plight of minority students in this country (who don’t have the money required to attend fancy private schools like Sasha and Malia). The President should have this discussion with America’s public school students.
I’m a betting man. My gut instincts tell me the smart money is on America’s liberal-biased teachers never allowing the questions above. I’m betting that as long as teachers unions are in control, there will never be an open or honest discussion between our President and America’s public school students. I’m betting this event on Tuesday will be used to indoctrinate our children into hero worship for the President, big government, big unions, and public education. Anyone want to take my bet?

Root wants every American voter to simply pledge to VETO (vote against) every incumbent politician in the United States of America in 2010. “I'm the only politician in America who wants to INCREASE unemployment- by at least 435 members of Congress (and a few Senators too). Can you imagine the headlines across the globe the morning after election day? ALL 435 MEMBERS OF U.S. CONGRESS HEAR: YOU'RE FIRED!”
Is this just a fantasy? Can it be done? Japan just did it. The Japanese people voted out the ruling political party after 50 consecutive years of power- a seismic shock wave to the political establishment. Here in America, polls show voters are angry and ready to do the same. Rasmussen Reports just announced the results of their latest polling about Congress. Rasmussen found that 57% of voters nationwide would vote to replace the entire U.S. Congress. But a remarkable 70% of independents would agree to throw out the entire Congress. 59% believe Congress is overpaid. 74% trust their own judgment on the healthcare issue over Congress. 75% think members of Congress are more interested in themselves and their career than in helping people. And here’s perhaps the most powerful finding of all by Rasmussen Reports: 42% of U.S. voters believe a random group of citizens chosen from the phone book would do a better job than the current Congress. The Citizen Revolution that Wayne Root wrote about in his new book has arrived.
Root says, “V.E.T.O. is the only way to send a powerful and forceful message to the D.C. political establishment that as Truman said ‘the buck stops here.’ Leaving the 'Socialist-in-Chief' Obama and his cabal of Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank in power is certainly not the answer (unless we want to trample the Constitution and destroy capitalism). But putting career Republican politicians in control of Congress is not the answer either- they’ve already proven they will abuse their power. The answer is a fresh start. We need Citizen Legislators to replace career politicians. We need people who are actually reluctant to serve. People who aren’t going to Washington D.C. to seize power, but to answer to a higher calling- to serve and save our country.
We need an army of Jimmy Stewart’s (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington). We need an army of Citizen Legislators who understand what “we the people” means. An army of Citizen Legislators who want to make their own office less powerful and hand the power back to the people- just as the Constitution intended. We can only send that powerful message by Voting Everyone of Them Out of office in 2010 (VETO).
Republican, Democrat, who cares? Send them all packing. This is the wakeup call the political establishment needs to hear. V.E.T.O. will put the fear of God…and an angry mob…into every politician in America. But the key is that we (the American voters) have to all agree to throw out everyone of them- even our own personal favorites. I know there are a few good ones in the bunch. But to send the message, we have to start by ripping up the entire U.S. Congress and starting over with a whole new class (no pun intended). The message is 'VETO 435 or bust.'
Then we'll see what the new group can do. We'll hold their feet to the fire. If they fail like the Democrats and Republicans before them, we'll throw them all out again. We’ll V.E.T.O. the U.S. Congress again in 2012.
That's only the start. While we’re at it, I suggest voting out every incumbent politician in America- at all levels. All of them should get the message: YOU'RE FIRED!” We the people are taking back control of our country.”

A college classmate of Barack Obama at Columbia University, he is now the leading contender for the Libertarian presidential nomination in 2012. Buthe is not your father's version of Libertarian. He is a Barry Goldwater protégé, who calls himself a Libertarian-conservative and plans to build a Libertarian-Conservative coalition to take back America from Obama and his socialist agenda. FP: Wayne Allyn Root, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
What inspired you to write this book?
Root: First, my unique background inspired the book. I am NOT your typical politician. I am a S.O.B. (son of a butcher); small businessman; home-school father of 4 young children; citizen statesman (just as the Founding Fathers intended); and capitalist evangelist.
I've never worked for government, never owned a business that does business with government, and never collected a government check in my life- other than a student loan (paid back in full), or an I.R.S. refund of my own money.
And I'm from Nevada- where our state constitution bans income taxes, welcomes guns in the hands of law abiding citizens, and limits the time politicians can sit in their seats. I'd call that heaven! I am certainly a different kind of politician- someone who wants to make government smaller, make my own political position weaker, and give the power back to the people- just as the Founding Fathers intended.
My political philosophy is simple, but it forms a powerful one-two punch aimed at big government. The first part is:

The second part of my political philosophy is that no matter what the question, the answer is the same: “IT'S NONE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S DARN BUSINESS!”
Secondly, I was inspired to write “The Conscience of a Libertarian” by the deep trouble our nation is in. Our country has been badly damaged; our economy decimated; our values denigrated- all by big government. Both Republicans and Democrats share in the blame. I call them Big and Bigger, Dumb and Dumber. Republicans campaign as limited government, anti-tax, Libertarian-Conservatives. But once elected, they govern as big government bureaucrats. They grow government- but perhaps just a little less than Democrats. They raise spending- but perhaps just a little less than Democrats. They raise taxes- but perhaps just a tad less than Democrats. They seem to vote for most every program that grows the Nanny State and intrudes in our lives- just like Democrats. But of course, Democrats are even worse- they promise even bigger government- and they deliver.
We have all been lied to, and defrauded by our politicians. They don't care about the people- they care only about enriching themselves; taking more power and control over the people. They only care about lawyers, lobbyists, big unions, big government, big corporations. They violate the Constitution every day.
I believe it will take a third party coalition of Conservatives and free market, limited government Libertarians to take back America. And it's coming- the latest Pew Poll on politics in America shows that more American voters now identify as Independents than at any time in modern political history. And those independents define themselves as conservative by a margin of 2 to 1 over liberal. A huge majority don't like or trust big government. A huge majority do not like Obama's big spending. A recent Gallop Poll shows that conservatives form a majority in all 50 states. This is the Libertarian-Conservative limited government coalition that I plan to build to become the Ross Perot of 2012.
These times remind me of the American Revolution. The Founding Fathers said “we either stand together, or hang separately.” Neither Conservatives nor Libertarians can take back America on our own. We need to stand together. These two groups need each other. The synergy of this coalition will fuel the Citizen Revolution. Together we will take back America from our Socialist-in-Chief Obama, and the moderate Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who claim to be fiscally conservative, but actually vote for big government compromises that enable the massive growth of government and erosion of capitalism and individual rights. My new book explains in detail how I plan to put the coalition together…and how Libertarian-Conservative solutions on any issue can solve this country's problems.
I hear that Barry Goldwater is your political hero?
Root: My political career began in 1964 at the age of 3, when I handed out political campaign literature for Barry Goldwater, in my father's arms. By the time I was in middle school, I had read “The Conscience of a Conservative” (the best-selling conservative book of all-time) a dozen times. My new book, “The Conscience of a Libertarian” is dedicated to my hero Barry Goldwater. An entire chapter points out everything that Goldwater believed and predicted back in 1959 (when he wrote his book), and how all of those predictions came true. Goldwater was right then (excuse the pun), and he's right now- 50 years later. If only we had listened to Goldwater a half century ago. Our economy would be thriving; our country would not be in debt; our school system would not be in shambles; our families would be stronger; our quality of life would be higher because taxpayers would be allowed to keep more of their own money; our nation would not be filled with entitlement addicts; our individual rights and freedoms would not be in mortal danger. I wrote my book to re-introduce the principles of Barry Goldwater (and Ronald Reagan) back to the citizens and taxpayers of America.
FP: What made this country a success?
Root: We are a nation founded by rugged individualists who wanted limited government, smaller government; less government intrusion into their lives. We fought a war over taxes that were so small, that our Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves over the heavy taxes we willingly pay today- without a word, without a fight. One of my heroes Thomas Jefferson once called the federal government intruding into the rights of the citizens of his home state of Virginia “a foreign invasion.” The principles we built America on are timeless: individual rights, self-reliance, personal responsibility, “if it is to be, it is up to me.” Relying on Big Brother is a mistake. Giving too much power to big government, big corporatons, big unions, lobbyists and lawyers is a terrible mistake.
Government is a failure. Everything it touches has failed miserably. From Amtrack ($30 BB in losses); to Medicare and Medicaid (whose losses threaten to bankrupt America); to the U.S. Postal Service (with billions in losses annually); to public schools- we spend the most in the world on education, yet our children rank near the bottom among industrialized nations in most education categories. Now Obama wants to hand 17% of the U.S. economy (healthcare) to government in the most massive and dangerous experiment in world history. It is a recipe for financial Armageddon. Please remember that government loses money on everything it does- every agency, every department, every year- since inception. You want to hand healthcare to the same people that brought us a $1.75 trillion budget deficit…a $11 trillion national debt (ad growing)…over $10 trillion in bailouts to corporations (which is 100% unconstitutional)…$60 trillion (or more) in unfunded liabilities for Medicare and Social Security…and a $5.3 trillion debt just in unfunded liabilities for federal government employees? That means that free healthcare for a couple of million government employees threatens the entire country with bankruptcy and insolvency. Now you want to give free healthcare to everyone in America? Are you kidding me? This can only be described as insanity…on steroids.
FP: How did Washington, D.C. become “the bad guy?”
Root: Wouldn't you call someone that bankrupts your children and grandchildren “a bad guy?” Wouldn't you call someone that enslaves future generations of your family to unsustainable debt, high taxes, high interest rates and the dramatic reduction in the value of the dollar “a bad guy?” No wonder newborn babies cry at the moment of birth- they instantly realize the debt and taxes they've inherited!
Shouldn't we all be wary of someone who believes it's “greedy” to want to keep more of your own money, but it isn't greedy to ask government to steal from those that earn it, and redistribute to those that didn't? As Barry Goldwater said, your income is your property. Does government respect your property? You know what we say in Nevada about Washington DC:
You know what the difference is between Las Vegas and Washington D.C? In Vegas, the drunks gamble with their own money!
Funny, but very true. In D.C. they think your money is their personal piggybank. Those $11 trillion in corporate bailouts…that's our taxpayer money. The $1 trillion that Obama wants to spend on universal government-run healthcare…that's our taxpayer money. The $3 billion handed out in the idiotic “Cash for Clunkers” program…that's our taxpayer money they are giving away. Yet they don't ask what we think of their schemes. They don't ask permission to use our money. They don't say please…or thank you…as they spend our money. And the worst of all- they don't even read the bills in Congress before they vote on them. Can you even imagine- our representatives don't even know what's in a bill they are voting for. No wonder we have $100 trillion in debt (counting the unfunded obligations of Medicare and Social Security). That's almost twice world GDP (all the money earned in the world each year). And our representatives certainly haven't read, or don't understand the Constitution.
I say we start a movement to VETO them all. VETO stands for “Vote Everyone of Them Out.” Let's all agree to send a message heard around the world- to vote out every incumbent in the U.S. Congress (House and Senate) in 2010 and 2012 (as well as our President “the Socialist in Chief”). Can you imagine the message that would send to big government proponents, big spenders, big taxers, big unions, big corporations, and their lawyers and lobbyists? We'd send the message that “business as usual” in D.C. is over. Let's agree to send them all home, send them all packing. THROW THE BUMS OUT. Let's VETO the entire U.S. government. VETO the entire D.C. political class. This would be our 21st century version of 1776. This would be our Declaration of Independence from big government- without firing a shot. But you can bet it would be a shot heard around the world!
FP: What is the classic story you tell in your book and on your many FOX News Channel appearances about the failure of government?
Root: In Nevada we have a unique approach to sin- legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. That gives the citizens personal freedom, and more importantly, relieves the burden on taxpayers. We have legalized gambling and legal brothels. I love to tell the story of The Mustang Ranch. We all know the sex sells. No one in history has ever lost money on selling sex. The Mustang Ranch was the most profitable brothel in the history of legalized sex. The owner made a reported $100 million. But he didn't pay his taxes. He was indicted for tax evasion, and ran away. He is now a fugitive from justice living in Brazil with his $100 million. The greedy and corrupt U.S. government took over ownership of the brothel. And guess what happened? It went BANKRUPT in one year!
The moral to the story: If you can't run a brothel…you cannot be trusted to run the nation's healthcare.
FP: How can we save America and capitalism?
Root: First, vote for a third party mavericks like me! Vote for citizen statesmen who truly believe in smaller government and giving power back to the people- and keep their word. Vote for citizen statesmen who have no interest in making politics a career. They must either agree to term limits- or THROW THE BUMS OUT! Barry Goldwater was right about everything in 1959- read Chapter One of my book and you'll be amazed. Nothing has changed in a half century- same issues, same problems, same Libertarian-conservative solutions. Ross Perot was also right back in 1992. He predicted way back then- when the debt was a measly $250 billion or so- that America faced bankruptcy if we didn't get our spending and debt under control. I want to be the Barry Goldwater and Ross Perot of 2012- on steroids! If only we had listened to them way back then.
Now polls show that Americans believe by a wide margin that our country is on the wrong track. Well guess why? We have been played like fools. We are “battered voters.” We keep getting lied to, yet keep voting for the same liars and frauds. This is like the movie “Groundhog Day.”
We do the same thing year after year, yet expect different results. Shame on us. We must stop voting for the same politicians who promise to make government smaller, but do the opposite once in office. Obama may be a Socialist, but it is Republicans who annually dominate the list for biggest Congressional spenders and biggest earmark spenders. It's time for a change alright. But this time let's throw all the bums out. Let's VETO every member of Congress. It's time for a Citizen Revolution.
Lots of Conservative politicians criticize President Obama. What makes you different?
Root: I do more than criticize. I provide detailed solutions for cutting government, reducing spending, reducing taxes, reducing entitlements, solving the immigration problem, even saving Social Security. I show American voters how we can eliminate income taxes for one year- I call it “an income tax vacation.” How we can eliminate capital gains taxes for anyone age 55 years or older. How we can eliminate capital gains taxes on small businesses. How we can form a union to counteract Obama and support small business owners and taxpayers- The PSTA (Private Sector Taxpayers of America). My plan calls for the banning of all bailouts and earmarks. And dramatically reducing spending on foreign aid. I explain how we can control the border and end illegal immigration, yet encourage millions of educated, skilled upper middle class immigrants with assets of $250,000 or more, to move to America- thereby ending our foreclosure crisis, housing crisis, Social Security crisis, and national debt crisis, all at once, as well as create millions of new jobs.
I explain how we can end affirmative action, reform Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and dramatically improve education results with school choice, vouchers, performance bonuses and encouraging alternative education like charter schools and home-schooling (I should know- I'm a home-school dad).
I show America how to end the energy crisis and healthcare crisis tomorrow. And I show America how to adopt the low tax “Nevada model” that has made my state #1 in all of America in population growth for the past quarter of a century, while avoiding "the California model” that has resulted in bankruptcy, insolvency, dysfunction, the biggest deficits in America, the worst bond ratings of any state, and the loss of over 1.35 million citizens (most of them to Nevada). Of course President Obama offered another 4 year term to the great “Enabler-in-Chief” Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. No surprise there. Why would you change course, when the man you have in the CEO seat is willing to play stoodge and do everything you need to keep your fraud going? Obama wants big government Socialism, and Bernanke is just the man to enable his plan. Fed Chief Bernanke has been willing to print all the money Obama needs to give away trillions of taxpayer dollars in entitlements; welfare; bailouts; stimulus; union payoffs (legal ones of course); tax cuts to people that never paid taxes in the first place; and most importantly pay raises (in the middle of a depression) to local, state and federal government employees.
These are all the very things Obama needs to keep the entitlement and handout junkies…addicted. These are the very things he needs to keep the masses distracted and anesthetized. These are the very things Obama needs to keep his hold on power. Bernanke is more like a Pharmaceutical CEO than Federal Reserve Chief- when Obama needs Xanax, Ritlin, or anti-depressants to calm or distract the American people, he simply turns to Bernanke and the Fed. Voila- another trillion dollars is printed!
Bernanke is enabling Obama to continue unsustainable government spending. The Fed is printing money that doesn’t exist, made up out of thin air, to prop up our bankrupt economy, and make sure that the voters who benefit from all these government handouts don’t notice the fraud being perpetrated on them, and (most importantly) continue to vote Democratic for Obama and his Socialist cabal (Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, etc). The Fed enables and ensures that Obama always has a steady supply of cash to bribe the corporations and unions that contributed to him (with bailouts and stimulus), and the masses that voted for him (with welfare, entitlements, and government jobs).
Meanwhile the taxpayers and small business owners who pay for all this can look forward to 3 things: First, we will have our life savings and assets devalued by a coming tidal wave of inflation (which always follows the reckless addition of trillions of dollars into the monetary system).
Secondly, guess who will be forced to pay for this obscene, irresponsible and irrational spending spree? Once again, it will be the taxpayers, high-income earners and small business owners. The people who fuel the entire U.S. economy will be punished for their success- for the fact that they create virtually all the jobs, and pay virtually all the taxes. Obama’s voters don’t pay the taxes in the first place, so of course they gain the benefit of government spending and handouts, without any of the responsibility.
Third, future generations of our children and grandchildren will be enslaved to a lifetime of big government, heavy taxes, sky-high inflation, and a worthless dollar- most of the disaster occurring after Obama is long gone from his job.
Think I’m exaggerating about who pays all the taxes…and who will be forced to pay for the current government-spending spree? Here are the facts:
*The top 1% of American taxpayers pay 40% of the income taxes.
*The top 5% of taxpayers pay over 60% of the taxes.
*The top 10% of taxpayers pay over 70% of the taxes.
*The top 25% of taxpayers pay over 90% of the taxes.
*Even more mindboggling, the top 1% of taxpayers pay more taxes than the bottom 95% combined.
* In New York City, America’s financial capital, 40,000 taxpayers pay virtually 100% of the income taxes for a city of 8 million people.
Please keep in mind that most of these high-income earners, that pay all these taxes, are small business owners. And that 75% of all new jobs in this country (and a majority of all jobs) are created by small business owners. And that over 80% of all jobs in this country belong to businesses with under 200 employees. As my wise father the butcher used to say, “It’s easy to hate the rich, but the funny thing is, in my lifetime, no poor person has ever given me a job.”
The facts above are only referring to income taxes. Yet it is important to note that this same group of high-income taxpayers pays the freight for most of America’s other taxes too. Think about it. They own the biggest homes, and most of the commercial property- so they pay virtually all the property taxes that fund our schools and local government. They own the businesses- so they pay half of the FICA taxes for America’s employees- that is then used to fund Social Security. They do the most consumer spending- so they are responsible for a large portion of the sales taxes that funds police, fire and government services. And of course as business owners, they pay 100% of the business income tax too. So when Obama and Bernanke’s bill comes due (for printing all this money out of thin air), guess who gets stuck with the bill?
There is no way out of this depression without small business leading the way. Yet Obama is burying business owners under a blizzard of heavy taxes, government regulation and unsustainable debt- all of which will become virtually 100% their responsibility and burden for years to come.
Here is the reality: Obama’s policies are wiping out small business, forcing the taxpayers who create virtually all the jobs to close their businesses; postpone expansion; cut jobs; retire early (rather than pay his future obscene tax increases); or go underground. The result is that Obama will turn a nasty recession into The Great Depression II.
Because of Obama’s Big Brother tax and spend policies, small business will stagnate and there will be no major improvement in the jobs outlook for years to come. But worst of all, there will not be enough tax revenue to pay for Obama’s massive government expansion and reckless spending spree. Which means that his deficit and national debt projections are overly-naïve and optimistic. Did anyone notice that Obama just announced that the cumulative deficit over the next decade just increased from $7 trillion to a startling $9 trillion (based on his budget)? Of course you didn’t notice- Obama’s government quietly announced it late in the afternoon on a Friday in the dog days of August (when the media is on vacation). I predict that even the new $9 trillion deficit number will look embarrassingly low when we look back years from now.
We are in serious trouble. Years from now, we’ll all look back and realize that Bernard Madoff was a small time crook. The big time crooks and frauds are running the U.S. government. Unfortunately, their Ponzi scheme will bankrupt our entire country, shake the very foundation of capitalism, and leave future generations with a financial Armageddon to contend with. Obama may be the root cause of this economic disaster as our “Socialist-in-Chief”, but Ben Bernanke is his enabler.

President Obama in a recent Town Hall meeting admitted that FedEx and UPS get it right...but it is the Postal Service that has big problems. Well I've been saying that for 20 years! Obama used that as proof as to why we should support his plan for government-run health care. Huh? His point- a very weak one- was that government cannot compete with FedEx or UPS, so we should not worry about government-run health care damaging private health insurance.
This is more proof that without a teleprompter and a gifted Kennedy-era speechwriter putting the words of Camelot in his mouth, Obama is actually a lousy speaker and debater.
A good debater might point out to Obama that the Postal Service has been failing for decades now...bleeding taxpayers out of tens of billions of dollars. And if we killed it tomorrow, it would still bleed us out of trillions more (that's with a T) in unfunded liabilities for the pensions and free lifetime healthcare of retired postal employees. Of course when the government-run Post Office fails, it just means we don’t get a letter on time. When government-run healthcare fails, it will mean long waits for medical care, rationing, and death for older Americans.
A good debater might point out how we- the taxpayers- are not on the hook for billions or trillions of dollars in losses from FedEx or UPS...or any private health insurance company for that matter. Why on earth would we want to hand 17% of the U.S. economy to government as a giant experiment that could overwhelm taxpayers with debt for decades to come? So much more debt, than just free healthcare for a measly few million government employees, that universal healthcare could very well lead to the bankruptcy and insolvency of America.
A good debater might point out that if we can't afford free lifetime healthcare benefits for just a few million federal employees, how could we afford to pay for free lifetime healthcare for all 300 million Americans?
A good debater might point out that if free lifetime healthcare for a few million government employees adds up to trillions in debt and unfunded liabilities, just adding 10 to 12 million illegal immigrants to our healthcare bill would surely break the bank. Let alone the entire 300 million population of America.
A good debater might point out that the federal government already runs Medicare and Medicaid, and they are the prime culprits in the future insolvency of America. So if free healthcare for only old people and poor people threatens to overwhelm the entire U.S. federal budget within 20 years (or sooner), can you imagine what providing health care for everyone would do to the budget?
A good debater might point out that government projections and predictions are always off by just a bit- often ten times too low. When Medicare was started, so-called government "experts" predicted it would cost $3 billion per year in 1970. Instead it cost $6.8 billion. They predicted it would cost $10 billion by 1990. Instead it cost $110 billion. So if Obama's "experts" now predict universal healthcare to cost $1 trillion to $1.6 trillion, do you think that perhaps $10 trillion to $16 trillion might be more accurate? You think government “experts” are more accurate nowadays? Really? Like “Cash for Clunkers” where we ran through $1 billion in government funding in 4 days. I predict we'll run through $1 trillion for healthcare in a couple of months (or sooner).
A good debater might point out that government fails and loses billions at everything it touches- from Amtrak, to Walter Reed Hospital (where returning wounded vets faced mold in their rooms), to Ethanol, to the wonderful planning of the Iraq War, to the management of the Hurricane Katrina rescue, to the dramatic failure of the entire U.S. public school system.
A good debater might point out that the Head of Canada’s Medical Association now says Canada’s system is sick and needs immediate changes. Or that in our own country, Massachusetts has already adopted government-run healthcare and costs have gone up, while performance has gone down. Big surprise, with government in charge.
Obama says we have no choice- "To Do Nothing is not an option." Really? My friends at the Congressional Effect Fund prove that doing nothing is always preferable to letting government do something. A study by the Congressional Effect Fund proves that for the past half century, when Congress is in session "doing something" the U.S. stock market is up 1%...while when Congress is out of session "doing nothing" the U.S. stock market is up a remarkable 17%.
There are many things we can do to improve healthcare in America- but they all start with getting government out of the way. But the sad reality is that doing NOTHING would be far preferable to letting government get more involved in healthcare.
Now President Obama says the public option may be abandoned. But we all know what that means- a few moderate Republicans and a handful of Blue Dog Democrats will pass an equally disastrous healthcare compromise- but they’ll call it by a different name and declare victory. Facts and history proves that reducing government involvement in the system is the only way to improve healthcare. Any further government involvement by any name (“co-op” instead of “public option”) will be bad for consumers, patients and doctors…and disastrous for the U.S. economy.
